For over twenty years, I’ve been a registered Republican. Even when I spent several years voting Democrat, I never changed my status. Of course, that’s mainly because I didn’t know I could. I was never particularly political, until about 10 years ago. I began taking an interest in our political leaders, and became hungry to learn more. I started watching the news, not just the right leaning media or left, but both sides. I started paying attention to bills being passed, and speeches being made. I started listening to journalists that were more middle of the aisle. That’s when I learned about being an Independent.
It’s amazing what you learn when you’re listening to people who just want to bring you the facts. It’s also pretty amazing what you learn when you start doing your own research. I knew my beliefs didn’t align with the Democrat party, so that was out. The Republican party was becoming something I was embarrassed by and angry with.
Thanks to people like Megyn Kelly, I learned I could become a registered Independent. And so I did, last year. For me that means, I care about the truth. I care about who is right for what job, it doesn’t matter to me if they are a Democrat or Republican. I care about facts, not party affiliation, not sex, not race.
I’m sharing this with you so that you can know me a little better. So that maybe you can know, and trust that I do everything I can to remain objective. The truth is my passion, and I hope it shows.
