Can you imagine being a man of God, and regretting saving the life of a young, four year old, boy? How evil can one child be for that to happen?
There is a book called, ‘The One Year Book of Amazing Stories’, by Robert Petterson, that tells a devastating story. Johann Kuehberger was a five year old boy, playing with other children by an icy river in Bavaria. A small, frail looking boy was trying to keep up with the others, and fell through the ice. Johann heard the boys cry for help, and immediately jumped in to save him. Most of us would label him a hero, like his local newspaper did, but the boys grew up.
Johann became a priest, and little Adolf grew up to do evil things to so many innocent people, and that is putting it very mildly. Johann spent many nights regretting his decision to save Hitler’s life. I imagine he felt immensely guilty, for if he had let the boy drowned, countless lives would have been saved. Countless horrors never would have taken place.
My point in all of this is, words matter. By comparing people you don’t like, and don’t agree with to Hitler, you are minimizing the terrors that the man himself inflicted on others. You are minimizing the Holocaust. Media, influencers, celebrities, and the like are just throwing around the Hitler name comparing anyone they simply don’t like to one of our worlds most evil, most vile, most nightmarish people. Words matter, and people should be ashamed of themselves for not conducting themselves in a mature, upright manner.
