You’re So Fake

Fake Christians are probably the people I despise the most. They make it near-impossible to bring people to Christ, because so many people have come across a fake Christian, and it’s left a nasty taste in their mouth. I can’t say that I blame them.

Christians are supposed to be Christ-like. We have all seen the WWJD bracelets, and that should be our motto. In all situations, What Would Jesus Do? It isn’t tough to figure out what He would do, the Bible lays it all out for us. The hard part is putting it into practice. We aren’t perfect, we will sin, we will fall short, but we should acknowledge our short comings and always work to do and be better.

People that make money off of their faith, like an awful lot of Evangelists…fake Christians. Bringing people to Christ is not a lucrative business in the financial sense, nor should it be. There’s making a living, and then there’s being a millionaire. They also tend to be the biggest hypocrites. The people that shout at you, and your sins, that belittle you, and call you names in the name of Christ…fake. Why shout and belittle people? People that try to shove the Bible down your throat and yammer on about how you’re going to hell. Fake. What an awful way to bring someone to Christ. It has never been effective, except to deter people from God.

Being a Christian is about loving people. It’s about behaving as a moral compass, as an empathetic person, with wisdom, and grace. It’s not always about words, but actions. It’s about leading by example. We should be guiding the faithless toward a more faithful life. We should not be putting ourselves on a pedestal, acting all high and mighty. Being a Christian is a job. We are working for our Father, to help bring more of His children home. We are acting, and living in His name, we are His voice.
