His Timing Is…

God’s timing can be frustrating, at times. We seek Him out for guidance, and we’re in a hurry for His answer, but it feels like we’re met with silence. He never works on our timeline, and while it’s okay to feel annoyed and frustrated, we should still have faith. Keep praying, and know that when the time is right, He will answer. This is true for our big, deeply personal prayers, and our ‘smaller’ prayers.

A few months ago, I started searching for a devotional. I had tried a few on my Bible app, and I had bought one from Amazon, but none of them were satisfying my spiritual hunger. I started to notice that I was talking to God less and less, and I was more irritable and restless in my day to day life. So, I prayed for His guidance on a devotional that would provide me the spiritual sustenance I wanted and needed. Days turned into weeks, turned into months, and I was getting more and more annoyed that I still had no answer. I kept praying, and communicating my frustration with the lack of expedited guidance.

One day, a few weeks ago, I was just putzing around a local flea market, when I happened upon a book with the title of my favorite verse, ‘Be Still and Know’. Any other title and I would have walked right past it, which of course God knew. He guided me right to a lovely devotional that is perfect for my needs. Every day, I look forward to reading it, and I feel more spiritually nourished.

We are imperfect, short-sighted humans. We want God, and everyone else for that matter, to work on our timeline. God knows better, though. He sees the bigger picture, and He knows what we need, when we need it, and how we need it. He hears our prayers, He isn’t ignoring us, He doesn’t ignore His children. What He does is work quietly behind the scenes, weaving things perfectly for our answer, yearning for His children to have faith in Him. When your prayers feel like they are going unanswered, be still and know that He is God. He will answer your prayers when the time is right, He will not fail you.
