Dear Satan,
Most people know you by your usual names, but not many have figured out that you are also called ‘Depression’. You are the whisper we hear that tells us what failures we are. It’s you whispering that we are hopeless, and our loved ones are better off in a world where we cease to exist. You are the pit in our stomachs, the tears we cry to ourselves. You are the voice of our despair.
Most people think of depression as a simple chemical imbalance, but you and I know that it’s so much more than that. It’s a spiritual battle. God showing us hope, and love while you whisper words that seemingly verify our deepest, darkest thoughts and feelings.
Your evil lies bring you so much joy. You are positively gleeful as you torment the sweetest of souls. I remember your whispers as I would slice open my skin, desperate for relief from the anguish you rained on me. I know how seductive your voice, and false promises can be.
Far too often you win the battle, but know this: your victory is short lived. God is greater than you. God is mightier than you. You will lose when the time comes for our ultimate battle. That vicious smirk will be wiped off of your face. Love, and truth will replace your evil lies. The battle with depression will be over for all, for all time.
In Jesus’ name,
Marie, Daughter of God
