Unfortunately, one of the biggest lessons we learn by God not ‘saving’ us from being hurt, is that Hell is real, and we don’t want anything to do with it. It’s scary, and filled with a darkness that is difficult to put into words. By learning that, we hopefully, decide to learn more about Heaven. Afterall, how do we ensure our eternal life while there, inside of the pits of Hell?
I believe that at least part of why God doesn’t step in every time we need Him to, is because our souls depend on it. We need to touch the hot stove in order to learn an important lesson. Now, with that being said, He does step in sometimes. Have I ever told you about the time that I was almost raped?
When I was in high school, I went to a friend’s house. No parents were there, but there were adults, and there was alcohol. I didn’t partake in any of it as I was the designated driver. One of the friends of the family had just gotten off of work. He was a brand new cop. He hadn’t been there long, when he grabbed a drink, and brought me into a room. I remember feeling terrified. I remember trying to stop him from undoing my pants, and from undoing his. I was on a bed, with him coming towards me when the door suddenly opened. The man who came in took one look at me, and seemed to know what was going on. He got the off duty cop out of the room. I can’t remember what he said to do it, but I was free. My savior nodded at me, and left me to have a few moments to myself. A few moments to fall apart.
Up until that moment, I had already lived through one rape, and countless assaults. So, why intervene for that one?
